God's Judgment and the Bible

All will be judged before God. "And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books." Revelation 20:12, NIV.

People will be judged by what they have done. "For the Son of Man is going to come in His Father's glory with His angels, and then He will reward each person according to what he has done." Matthew 16:27, NIV.

The standard in the judgment will be God's law. "For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. For He who said, 'Do not commit adultery,' also said, 'Do not murder.' If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker. Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom." James 2:10-12, NIV.

God's judgment will be fair. "For He has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man He has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising Him from the dead." Acts 17:31, NIV.

No one escapes the judgment. "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad." II Corinthians 5:10, NIV.

Nothing can be kept hidden in the judgment. "For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil." Ecclesiastes 12:14, NIV.

What view of the judgment scene was given Daniel? "I watched as thrones were put in place and the Ancient of Days—the Almighty God—sat down to judge. His clothing was as white as snow, His hair like whitest wool. He sat upon a fiery throne brought in on flaming wheels, and a river of fire flowed from before Him. Millions of angels ministered to Him and hundreds of millions of people stood before Him, waiting to be judged. Then the court began its session and The Books were opened." Daniel 7:9-10, TLB.

In the judgment court room Christ is our defense attorney. "But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense—Jesus Christ the Righteous One." I John 2:1, NIV.

What evidence does the defense present on our behalf? "Everyone who conquers will be clothed in white, and I will not erase his name from the Book of Life, but I will announce before My Father and His angels that he is Mine." Revelation 3:5, TLB.

Judgment

The term judgment generally refers to the considered evaluation of evidence in the formation of making a decision. The term has three distinct uses:
  • Informal and psychology —used in reference to the quality of cognitive faculties and adjudicational capabilities of particular individuals, typically called wisdom or discernment.
  • Legal —used in the context of legal trial, to refer to a final finding, statement, or ruling, based on a considered weighing of evidence, called "adjudication."
  • Religious —used in the concept of salvation to refer to the adjudication of God, and the statement following in determining reward or punishment for each and all human beings.9
