Appreciation and the Bible

Start the day with a thankful attitude. "It is good to say thank you to the Lord, to sing praises to the God who is above all gods. Every morning tell him, 'Thank you for Your kindness,' and every evening rejoice in all His faithfulness." Psalm 92:1-2, TLB

One of the first marks of rejecting God is forgetting to thank him. "Yes, they knew about Him all right, but they wouldn't admit it or worship Him or even thank Him for all his daily care. And after awhile they began to think up silly ideas of what God was like and what He wanted them to do. The result was that their foolish minds became dark and confused." Romans 1:21, TLB.

Give thanks in every situation. "Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:18, NIV

In giving thanks to God; don't forget from where our blessings come. "Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits." Psalms 103:2, NIV.

Luke’s account of the cleansing of the ten lepers underscores the human tendency to expect grace as our due and to forget to thank God for His benefits. “Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine—where are they? Was no one found who turned back to give glory to God, except this foreigner?” Luke 17:17-18

The Word of God tells us that all we have is a gift from God. “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.” James 1:175
