Bible Quotes
In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.
(Proverbs 14:23) ESV

No wisdom, no understanding, no counsel can avail against the Lord.
(Proverbs 21:30) ESV

But when some became stubborn and continued in unbelief, speaking evil of the Way before the congregation, he withdrew from them and took the disciples with him, reasoning daily in the hall of Tyrannus.
(Acts 19:9) ESV

For I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you and for those at Laodicea and for all who have not seen me face to face, that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God's mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I say this in order that no one may delude you with plausible arguments. For though I am absent in body, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the firmness of your faith in Christ. ...
(Colossians 2:1-23)
ESV

But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.
(1 Peter 3:15-16) ESV

Debating and the Bible

The word DEBATE is used only once in the Revised Version (British and American) (Proverbs 25:9). It evidently refers to the settling of a difficulty with a neighbor, and anticipates Matthew 18:15. It argues for and shows the advantage of private, peaceable settlement of difficulties.

The word Debating occurs in 3 instances in the Bible:

Mark 12:28 One of the scribes came, and heard them questioning together. Knowing that he had answered them well, asked him, "Which commandment is the greatest of all?" (See NIV)

Luke 3:15 And while the people were in suspense and all were debating in their minds whether John might possibly be the Anointed One, (WEY)

Luke 5:22 Well aware of their reasonings, Jesus answered their questions by asking in turn, "What is this that you are debating in your hearts? (WEY)2,3
