Bible Promises in Song |
Listen |
|
In the time of trouble he shall
hide me in his pavilion: in the
secret of his tabernacle shall he
hide me; he shall set me up upon a
rock. And now shall mine head be
lifted up above mine enemies round
about me: therefore will I offer
in his tabernacle sacrifices of
joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing
praises unto the LORD.
(Psalm 27:5,6)
|
|
The wicked watcheth the
righteous, and seeketh to slay
him. The LORD will not leave him
in his hand, nor condemn him when
he is judged. And the LORD shall
help them, and deliver them: he
shall deliver them from the
wicked, and save them, because
they trust in him
(Psalm 37:32,33,40)
|
|
He preserveth the souls of his
saints; he delivereth them out of
the hand of the wicked"
(Psalm 97:10)
|
|
Be
not afraid of sudden fear, neither
of the desolation of the wicked,
when it cometh.
For the LORD shall be thy
confidence, and shall keep thy
foot from being taken.
(Proverbs 3:25,26)
|
|
Thou shalt bring down the noise of
strangers, as the heat in a dry
place; even the heat with the
shadow of a cloud: the branch of
the terrible ones shall be brought
low".
(Isaiah 25:5)
|
|
But
I say unto you, Love your enemies,
bless them that curse you, do good
to them that hate you, and pray
for them which despitefully use
you, and persecute you;
That ye may be the children of
your Father which is in heaven:
for he maketh his sun to rise on
the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on
the unjust.
(Matthew 5:44,45)

So long as governments set
the example of killing their
enemies, private individuals will
occasionally kill theirs.

If we could read the secret
history of our enemies, we should
find in each man's life sorrow and
suffering enough to disarm all
hostility.
--Henry Wadsworth Longfellow |
Often we have no time for
our friends, but all the time in
the world for our enemies.

What the Bible says ... |
|
About Enemies |
How does God expect us to
treat our enemies?
"Listen, all of you.
Love your enemies. Do good to those who hate you. Pray for the |

|
|
happiness of those who curse you;
implore God's blessing on those
who hurt you. If someone slaps you
on one cheek, let him slap the
other too! If someone demands your
coat, give him your shirt besides.
Give what you have to anyone who
asks you for it; and when things
are taken away from you, don't
worry about getting them back.
Treat others as you want them to
treat you. Do you think you
deserve credit for merely loving
those who love you? Even the
godless do that! And if you do
good only to those who do you
good—is that so wonderful? Even
sinners do that much! And if you
lend money only to those who can
repay you, what good is that? Even
the most wicked will lend to their
own kind for full return! Love
your enemies! Do good to them!
Lend to them! And don't be
concerned about the fact that they
won't repay. Then your reward from
heaven will be very great, and you
will truly be acting as sons of
God: for He is kind to the
unthankful and to those who are
very wicked. Try to show as much
compassion as your Father does."
Luke 6:27-36, TLB
An
enemy should be treated
honourably.
"Come to terms quickly with
your enemy before it is too late
and he drags you into court and
you are thrown into a debtor's
cell."
Matthew 5:25, TLB
Don't be happy when your enemy has
problems.
"Do not rejoice when
your enemy meets trouble. Let
there be no gladness when he
falls—For the Lord may be
displeased with you and stop
punishing him!"
Proverbs 24:17-18, TLB
What does "heaping coals of fire"
mean?
"Instead, feed your enemy if
he is hungry. If he is thirsty
give him something to drink and
you will be 'heaping coals of fire
on his head.' In other words, he
will feel ashamed of himself for
what he has done to you."
Romans 12:20, TLB
God promises protection from my
enemies.
"He rescues me from my
enemies; He holds me safely out of
their reach and saves me from
these powerful opponents."
Psalm 18:48, TLB5
