Bible Quotes
And beware lest you raise your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven, you be drawn away and bow down to them and serve them, things that the Lord your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven.
(Deuteronomy 4:19) ESV

There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you.
(Deuteronomy 18:10-12) ESV

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
(Psalm 119:105) ESV

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.
(Proverbs 16:9) ESV

In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider: God has made the one as well as the other, so that man may not find out anything that will be after him.
(Ecclesiastes 7:14) ESV

And when they say to you, “Inquire of the mediums and the necromancers who chirp and mutter,” should not a people inquire of their God? Should they inquire of the dead on behalf of the living? To the teaching and to the testimony! If they will not speak according to this word, it is because they have no dawn.
(Isaiah 8:19,20) ESV

So do not listen to your prophets, your diviners, your dreamers, your fortune-tellers, or your sorcerers, who are saying to you, ‘You shall not serve the king of Babylon.’
(Jeremiah 27:9) ESV

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
(Jeremiah 29:11) ESV

For the Lord God does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.
(Amos 3:7) ESV

And I will cut off sorceries from your hand, and you shall have no more tellers of fortunes;
(Micah 5:12) ESV

Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.’ But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. And do not take an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.
(Matthew 5:33-37) ESV

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
(Mark 13:31) ESV

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
(John 14:6) ESV

Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.
(Galatians 6:7) ESV

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 4:6,7) ESV

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”
(James 4:13-15) ESV

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them. ...
(1 John 4:1-21) ESV

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” ...
(Revelation 21:1-27) ESV1

Future and the Bible

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD?

None of us are able to tell the future without fail or fault ("you do not know what will happen tomorrow," Jas. 4:14).  Still, most of us look to the future and wonder.

The Bible does not tell us everything that will happen in the future.  But it does tell us enough to know that we must always be spiritually prepared for it (Matt. 24:42-51; Jas. 4:13-15).

Jesus Christ Will Return

"This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you say Him go into heaven." (Acts 1:11)

Jesus will return not to the earth to establish His kingdom and reign in peace for 1,000 years.  But when He returns He will:

-Judge mankind:
"He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained.  He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead."  (Acts 17:31)

-Deliver the kingdom to God the Father:
"Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father." (1 Cor. 15:24)

-Destroy the material world:
"the elements will melt with fervent heat: both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up." (2 Pet. 3:10, 11-12)

The Future Of All Men

The future of every person includes:
-Resurrection from the dead: "Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth--those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation."  (John 5:28-29)

-Judgment for our deeds in this life: "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad." (2 Cor. 5:10)

-Reward or punishment: "And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."  (Matt. 25:46)
"He who overcomes shall inherit these things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.  But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."
(Rev. 21:7-8)

-The future of the sinner is bleak and fearful:
"Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels." (Matt. 25:41; cf. 2 Thess. 1:7-9)

-The future of the Christian is full of glory:
"When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory." (Col. 4:3; cf. 1 Thess. 4:13-18)

Where Will You Spend Your Eternity?

The future is upon us.  Every second of the clock brings us closer to eternity. We ought to say "if the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that." (Jas. 4:15)

Prepare for the future by becoming a Christian.  Believe in Christ and confess your faith, repent of your sins and be baptized for the remission of our sins (Jn. 8:24; Rom. 10:9-10; Acts 17:30; Mk. 16:16; Acts 2:38).  Then, your future will be bright. Your sins are forgiven. Remain prepared to
meet your God through faithful living (2 Cor. 5:7-10; Col. 3:1-4; Gal. 2:20).2
