Bible Promises in Song |
Listen |
Yet have I set my king upon my
holy hill of Zion, I will declare
the decree: the Lord hath said
unto me, Thou art my Son; this day
have I begotten thee.
(Psalm 2:6,7) |
 |
But
with righteousness shall he judge
the poor, and reprove with equity
for the meek of the earth: and he
shall smite the earth: with the
rod of his mouth, and with the
breath of his lips shall he slay
the wicked.
(Isaiah 11:4) |
Behold, the former things are come
to pass, and new things do I
declare: before they spring forth
I tell you of them.
(Isaiah 42:9) |
The
wolf and the lamb shall feed
together, and the lion shall eat
straw like the bullock: and dust
shall be the serpent's meat. They
shall not hurt nor destroy in all
my holy mountain, saith the LORD.
(Isaiah 65:25) |
But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to
the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be
increased.
(Daniel 12:4) |
For, behold, the LORD will come
with fire, and with his chariots
like a whirlwind, to render his
anger with fury, and his rebuke
with flames of fire.
For by fire and by his sword
will the LORD plead with all
flesh: and the slain of the LORD
shall be many.
(Isaiah 66:15,16) |
If any man worship the beast and
his image, and receive his mark in
his forehead, or in his hand, the
same shall drink of the wine of
the wrath of God, which is poured
out without mixture into the cup
of his indignation.
(Revelation 14:9,10) |
And I
saw as it were a sea of glass
mingled with fire: and them that
had gotten the victory over the
beast, and over his image, and
over his mark, and over the number
of his name, stand on the sea of
glass, having the harps of God.
(Revelation 15:2) |
And
the seventh angel poured out his
vial into the air; and there came
a great voice out of the temple of
heaven, from the throne, saying,
It is done.
And there were voices,
and thunders, and lightnings; and
there was a great earthquake, such
as was not since men were upon the
earth, so mighty an earthquake,
and so great.
And the great city was divided
into three parts, and the cities
of the nations fell: and great
Babylon came in remembrance before
God, to give unto her the cup of
the wine of the fierceness of his
wrath.
(Revelation 16:17-19) |

What the Bible says ... |
|
About Prophecy |
Prophecy does not originate with
men but is sent by God.
"For no prophecy recorded in
Scripture was ever thought up by the prophet himself. It was |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
the
Holy Spirit within these godly men
who gave them true messages from
God." II
Peter 1:21, TLB
Prophecy
accurately tells what will happen
in the future.
"Everything I prophesied came
true, and now I will prophesy
again. I will tell you the future
before it happens."
Isaiah 42:9, TLB
God
has revealed his plans to the
prophets.
"Surely the Sovereign Lord does
nothing without revealing His plan
to His servants the prophets."
Amos 3:7, NIV5

Functions of
the Prophet |
|
Prophecy
or prediction, was
one of the functions of the
prophet. It has been defined as a
"miracle of knowledge, a
declaration or description
or representation of
something future, beyond
the power of human sagacity to
foresee,
discern, or
conjecture." (The great
prediction which runs like a
golden
thread through the whole contents
of the Old Testament is that
regarding the
coming and work of the
Messiah; and the great use
of prophecy was to perpetuate
faith in his coming, and to
prepare the world for that
event.6
