Yea, though I walk through the
valley of the shadow of death, I
will fear no evil: for thou art
with me; thy rod and thy staff
they comfort me.
(Psalm 23:4)
A thousand shall fall at thy side,
and ten thousand at thy right
hand; but it shall not come nigh
thee.
(Psalm 91:7)
If the Spirit of him that raised
up Jesus from the dead dwell in
you, he that raised up Christ from
the dead shall also quicken your
mortal bodies by his Spirit that
dwelleth in you.
(Romans 8:11)

For I am persuaded, that neither
death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers, nor
things present, nor things to
come, Nor height, nor depth, nor
any other creature, shall be able
to separate us from the love of
God, which is in Christ Jesus our
Lord.

Bible Quotes |
|
|
Return, O LORD, deliver my soul:
oh save me for thy mercies' sake.
For in death there is no
remembrance of thee: in the grave
who shall give thee thanks?
(Psalm 6:4,5)
Thou that liftest me up
from the gates of death.
(Psalm 9:13)
Behold, the eye of the LORD is
upon them that fear him, upon them
that hope in his mercy; To
deliver their soul from death, and
to keep them alive in famine.
(Psalm 33:18,19)
Mark the perfect man, and behold
the upright: for the end of that
man is peace.
(Psalm 37:37)
Precious in the
sight of the LORD is the death of
his saints.
(Psalm 116:15)
Put not your trust in
princes, nor in the son of man, in
whom
there is no help.
His breath goeth forth, he
returneth to his earth; in that
very day
his thoughts perish.
(Psalm 146:3,4)
For
that which befalleth the sons of
men befalleth beasts; even one
thing befalleth them: as the one
dieth, so dieth the other; yea,
they have all one breath; so that
a man hath no preeminence above a
beast: for all is vanity. All go unto one place; all are
of the dust, and all turn to dust
again.
(Ecclesiastes 3:19,20)
For
the living know that they shall
die: but the dead know not any
thing, neither have they any more
a reward; for the memory of them
is forgotten.
Also their love, and their
hatred, and their envy, is now
perished; neither have they any
more a portion for ever in any
thing that is done under the sun.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5,6)
He will swallow up death in
victory: and the Lord God will wipe
away tears from off faces, ...
(Isaiah 25:8)
O
death, where is thy sting? O grave
where is thy victory?
(1 Corinthians 15:55)
Forasmuch then as the children are
partakers of flesh and blood, he
also himself likewise took part of
the same; that through death he
might destroy him that had the
power of death, that is, the
devil; And deliver them who
through fear of death were all
their lifetime subject to bondage.
(Hebrews 2:14,15)
Blessed are the dead which die in
the Lord from henceforth: Yea,
saith the Spirit, that they may
rest from their labours; and their
works do follow them.
(Revelation 14:13)

The Bible on
Death |
How can we
face death? We need not be afraid
if God is with us.
"Even when walking
through the dark valley of death I will not be afraid, for You are
close beside me, guarding, guiding
all the way."
Psalm 23:4, TLB
What is
death like? It is like falling
asleep.
"Brothers, we do not
want you to be ignorant about
those who fall asleep, or to
grieve like the rest of men, who
have no hope."
I Thessalonians
4:13, NIV
"After He had said this, He went
on to tell them, 'Our friend
Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I
am going there to wake him up.'
His disciples replied, 'Lord, if
he sleeps, he will get better.'
Jesus had been speaking of his
death, but His disciples thought
He meant natural sleep. So then He
told them plainly, 'Lazarus is
dead'.
"John 11:11-14, NIV
Where does
Daniel say the dead are sleeping?
"Multitudes who sleep in the
dust of the earth will awake."
Daniel 12:2, NIV
Do the dead
know anything?
"For the living know that
they will die, but the dead know
nothing; they have no further
reward, and even the memory of
them is forgotten. Their love,
their hate and their jealousy have
long since vanished; never again
will they have a part in anything
that happens under the sun…
Whatever your hand finds to do, do
it with all your might, for in the
grave, where you are going, there
is neither working nor planning
nor knowledge nor wisdom."
Ecclesiastes 9:5-6, 10, NIV
But death is
not the end!
"But your dead will live;
their bodies will rise. You who
dwell in the dust, wake up and
shout for joy."
Isaiah 26:19, NIV
What does
Jesus promise those who die?
"I will ransom them from the
power of the grave; I will redeem
them from death."
Hosea 13:14, NIV
Resurrection
power comes from Christ.
"For since death came through
a man, the resurrection of the
dead comes also through a man. For
as in Adam all die, so in Christ
all will be made alive."
I Corinthians 15:21-22, NIV
Why did God
give His Son to the world?
"For God so loved the
world that He gave His one and
only Son, that whoever believes in
Him shall not perish but have
eternal life."
John 3:16, NIV
Both good
and evil people are resurrected.
"Do not be amazed at
this, for a time is coming when
all who are in their graves will
hear His voice and come out—those
who have done good will rise to
live, and those who have done evil
will rise to be condemned."
John 5:28-29, NIV
The
righteous are resurrected at the
second coming of Christ.
"For the Lord Himself
will come down from heaven, with a
loud command, with the voice of
the archangel and with the trumpet
call of God, and the dead in
Christ will rise first. After
that, we who are still alive and
are left will be caught up with
them in the clouds to meet the
Lord in the air."
I Thessalonians 4:16-17, NIV
What will we
be like after the resurrection?
"But our citizenship is
in heaven. And we eagerly await a
Saviour from there, the Lord Jesus
Christ, who, by the power that
enables Him to bring everything
under His control, will transform
our lowly bodies so that they will
be like His glorious body."
Philippians 3:20-21, NIV
How long
will the resurrected righteous
live?
"And they can no longer die;
for they are like the angels. They
are God's children, since they are
children of the resurrection."
Luke 20:36, NIV
How long do
the wicked wait after the first
resurrection before they are
raised?
"They [the righteous] came to
life and reigned with Christ a
thousand years. (The rest of the
dead did not come to life until
the thousand years were ended.)"
Revelation 20:4-5, NIV
What is
their fate?
"Fire came down from heaven
and devoured them."
Revelation 20:9, NIV
Who are the
wicked?
"But the cowardly, the
unbelieving, the vile, the
murderers, the sexually immoral,
those who practice magic arts, the
idolaters and all liars—their

Death |
Death is the permanent termination of the biological
functions that define a living organism. It refers to both a
particular event and to the condition that results thereby.
The true nature of the latter has for millennia been a
central concern of the world's religious traditions and of
philosophical enquiry. Religions, almost without exception,
maintain faith in either some kind of afterlife or
reincarnation. The effect of physical death on any possible
mind or soul remains an open question. Contemporary science
regards organismic death as final by definition.7
